I thought as it is the start of a New Year and the Country starts to return to work after the Christmas break I would look at some of the elections ahead in 2017. Locally, Nationally and Internationally.
Starting locally. There are none of the usual local elections this year. By that I mean there are no elections for Councillors to serve on Bury Metroplitan Borough Council. There will however be the first election for the new position of the Elected Mayor for the whole of the Greater Manchester area. This is scheduled to take place on the first Thursday in May – the day on which local Council elections are normally held. Unless there are some local by-elections this is likely to be the only election this year.
