Fusilier Museum Appeal Real Ale Festival

Last night, I attended the opening of the Beer Festival organised to raise funds for the new Fusiliers Museum. The opening was performed by the Deputy Mayor of Bury Councillor Farook Chaudhry. The Mayor and Mayoress of Salford also attended. I sampled the ale I had sponsored which was described in the tasting notes as being a ‘Copper coloured ale with lots of bite!’.

A group of us were then shown around the new museum where work is very well advanced ahead of the planned opening to the public in June. I was interested to learn that there are plans to rename Sparrow Park where the Lutyens Memorial is to be moved to as Galipolli Gardens which seems a good idea to me.

The Real Ale Festival is open today and tomorrow at the Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall. Well worth a visit.
