David with Brook Newmark MP and Deborah Dunleavy

Last night Susan and I attended the Bolton North East Conservatives’ Supper Club that is run ny my colleague Deborah Dunleavy the Prospective M.P. for that Constituency.

The dinner was held at The Last Drop and the guest speaker was Brooks Newmark the Member of Parliament for Braintree in Essex. Brooks is currently one of the Opposition Whips team. Before entering Parliament he worked on Wall Street for a period and was then involved in private equity businesses. He has tremendous knowledge of how the City and finance operates. In his speech he spoke of how much Government debt is ‘off balance sheet’ in other words it exists but Gordon Brown doesn’t count it.

Last night Sue and I attended a dinner organised by the Bury Industrial Society held at the Last Drop Hotel near Bolton. The guest speaker was Edward Timpson MP the victor of the Crewe and Nantwich by-election. The dinner was chaired by Martin Hardman and was organised by the Society’s excellent and efficient Secretary Pamela Watkins.

In addition to myself the dinner was also attended by my fellow Candidates Deborah Dunleavy from Bolton North East and Jake Berry from Rossendale and Darwen

And the winner is….

Over the last couple of weeks we have been conducting a survey of peoples opinions on crime. In order to encourage residents to return the survey all those received back by yesterday were to be entered into a draw for a Christmas Hamper. So, yesterday we invited a Solicitor from Latimer Lee LLP ( so as to ensure fair play! ) to conduct the draw and …. the winner is Mrs Mo Connell from Massey Street in Bury.
Yesterday, I also went to collect from the airport my friend who has been over in Sri Lanka watching the cricket and he stayed with us overnight. It was a bit of a shock for him temperature wise! In Columbo the temperature was over 30 degrees celsius this morning we had to spend ten minutes scraping the ice of his car!
This evening Sue and I have been to a Party at the home of the Parliamentary Candidate for Bolton North East Deborah Dunleavy.
