Spending Review DCMS

DCMS the Department for Culture Media and Sport always attracts a lot of public attention although less than 1% of total government expenditure goes to the culture, media and sport sector. A sector which accounts for almost one sixth of the U.K. economy.
Overall departmental spending will remain at £1.1 / £1.2 billion per year throughout this Parliament. The settlement will mean continued free access to national museums and galleries.
The spending review also confirmed that up to £550 million will be spent during this Parliament to make the 700Mhz spectrum available for mobile broadband use. £150 million will be invested to help the British Museum, the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum replace out of date storage facilities with new storage facilities which will preserve and protect over 2 million fragile and sensitive objects.
