This morning I attended the Spring Fair at St Paul’s in Ramsbottom and in the afternoon I attended the Spring Show organised by Tottington and District Horticultural Society at Greenmount Old School where I had sponsored some of the classes. Sue and I viewed all the exhibits and then enjoyed a coffee and home made cake. One good sign was that the refreshments were so popular that the Society had to open up another room to seat everyone.
This evening Sue and I have attended a concert at Bolton Road Methodists Church to raise funds for the Fusiliers Court residents and the Bury Support Group for the Parkinsons Disease Society. The Concert was performed by the Larks of Dean who sing 17th to 19th Church music unaccompanied. In addition to performing they explain a liitle about each piece setting it in context so it was very informative as well as entertaining.
Today has been the thirtieth anniversary of the day the previous Labour Government lost a motion of no confidence in the House of Commons and the then Labour Prime Minister James Callaghan was forced to ask Her Majesty the Queen to dissolve Parliament and a General Election was held five weeks later. In answer to all those who do keep asking me the next General Election must be held by 3rd June 2010.
