Wedding and RNLI

I have had a slightly different weekend from normal. On Saturday after visiting Sue’s parents to leave CeeCee for a couple of days we attended the wedding reception of my Area Campaign Director Mike Nicholls who married over near Wigan. ( Area Campaign Directors are employees of the Conservative Party who are the professionals who direct our campaigning activities ). I have known Mike for many years and I am pleased he has found someone to settle down with. There were a few other Parliamentary Candidates there and it was a good opportunity to be able to catch up with them.
Turning to CeeCee this has been the first time we have left him since his arrival and even after only four weeks it has been really strange not having him about.
On Sunday I accompanied Susan to the Royal National Lifeboat Institute’s Award Ceremony for the North of England which was held at York racecourse. Sue is on the Committee of the lolocal Bury Guild of the RNLI and two of their members were receiving awards for the service they have done for the Charity over many years. It was very moving to see all the recipients and listen to the citations read out for each award. It is quite amazing how much ( and we are talking in tens of millions of pounds ) has to be raised each year to keep the Lifeboat Service going.
