Off to the Palace!

Well only to visit of course! I am up early to set off with a group of local Party members on a weekend trip the Association has organised to visit Windsor Castle and Buckingham Palace.
Yesterday, I attended an Afternoon Tea and Talk organised the Bury Ladies Lifeboat Guild. The talk was about the tours undertaken by the small cruise company Hebridean Cruises which by a strange coincidence HM The Queen and members of the Royal family used last year.

  1. Mr Harrop,
Firstly, my view is that whoever said or wrote this quote should be made fully aware that there are NO new Conservative proposals such as this. As I am sure you are aware David Cameron established half a dozen Policy Groups to examine different issues. Each of these Groups is now producing their final reports with their ideas and suggestions. None of the ideas are Party policy. Some may become Party policy and will in due course form part of our manifesto for the next election; others may never become Party policy.
Secondly, I do not agree that forcing out-of-town supermarkets to introduce car parking charges is the right way forward. If a person or a Company owns some land I believe that it is up to them if they want to charge people for parking on that land.
Thirdly, I am a strong supporter of local shops. I personally try and shop whenever I can in the small shops in Tottington and incidentally I do not think the two positions are contradictory. I think people should be encouraged to support their local shops but I do not think the best way of doing this is to force the introduction of car parking charges in out-of-town shopping centres

  2. Mr Nuttall,

What’s your view on this? “Shoppers using out-of-town supermarkets would be forced to pay car parking charges under new Conservative proposals to defend the traditional British high street. Under the plans, councils would be given the power to demand that big supermarkets and other stores on the outskirts of towns charge their customers for parking.”
