After attending the morning Service at St.Annes’s I attended the Election Meeting of the Conservative Group today. The Group traditionally meet following the local government elections to elect a Leader, Deputy Leader, Group Chairman and Whip. I can exclusively reveal that Councillor Bob Bibby was re-elected as Leader, with Councillor Yvonne Creswell continuing as Deputy Leader. Councillor Sam Cohen will be Group Chairman and Councillor Beverly Sullivan will be the Group Whip. Most discussion centered around what will happen with regard to control of the Council now that no Party has no overall control but the Conservatives are the largest Party. The Council was under no under control last year but Labour had the largest number of seats. I can not reveal the outcome of those discussions other than to confirm what the Leader is already on record as stating namely that the Conservatives will not do any deals with the Liberal Democrats. It remains to be seen if Labour do.

I know all these Councillors and they are all hardworking and dedicated to doing what is in the best interests of the people of the Borough of Bury.
That is a very bad mistake re-electing Bibby as leader. This man is a major liability. As for Yvonne Cresswell, she’s even worse. I had to point out to her how to spell William Hague the other day (she took my posting off her website pretty quickly and hastily made the spelling change out of embarassment). Sam Cohen was also recently asked on his website what difference the Tories would make in Bury. He replied: “who knows, with us in control it might just encourage other companies to invest in Bury.” Is this shower of fools really the best Tory talent you can muster?
