About David

I was the Member of Parliament for Bury North being first elected in May 2010 and re-elected in May 2015. I am standing for re-election at the general election to be held on 8th June 2017.
The Bury North Constituency covers the towns of Bury, Ramsbottom and Tottington together with a number rural villages and hamlets.

I was educated at a Comprehensive School and then joined a firm of Solicitors as a Trainee Legal Executive. I obtained a law degree and qualified as a Solicitor in 1990. I became a Partner in the same firm that I joined after leaving school and ran the firm for 16 years employing over 40 staff.

I am married to Susan and we live in Tottington.

Apart from politics I enjoy watching sport and walking in our beautiful countryside. I am President of Tottington St. John’s Cricket Club and a Patron of Ramsbottom Cricket Club. I am also a member of the Rotary Club in Bury.

Susan and I attend St. Anne’s Church in Tottington where I was one of the church wardens between 2009 and 2016.

  1. David, thank you for your time today, your straight talking was so refreshing. Having met so many MP’s, it’s truly nice to meet a real human one (to be). I pray when you get elected you don’t lose your “common touch”.
    Best of luck.
