After a week dominated by events in the Middle East focus has turned back to domestic affairs and the first by-election of the new Parliament. Bury’s own Conservative group deputy leader Councillor James Daly was the Conservative Candidate and fought an excellent campaign in the short time available.
The result declared overnight was a good one for Labour as they held the seat which was to be fair seen as a safe Labour seat. The full result was:
