I generally like to try and keep Sunday as a day when I have few engagements and I can try and spend sometime at home. It frequently does not work out like that and today has been a classic example.
My day kicked off with feeding CeeCee and taking him for his first walk of the day at 8am. By 9am I was meeting with members of the Bury Conservative Muslim Forum as today marks the festival of Eid which marks the end of Ramadan which is a holy month of fasting for Muslims.
By 10am I was at St. Anne’s in Tottington undertaking my duties as Churchwarden.
At noon I was attending the St Anne’s Sunday School end of Summer barbecue. Fortunately for all the events today the weather has been fine and dry with a fair bit of warmth in the sun. Opportunity for me to grab a burger and a few of the tasty buns for lunch.
By 1.30pm after a quick trip homw to change I was down visiting the Boys and Girls Club in Radcliffe where my colleague Councillor Michelle Wiseman is currently organising a major refurbishment.
Next after another quick change and collecting Sue and CeeCee it was a short trip down to Crompton Meadows the home of Tottington St. John’s Cricket Club where I am President as they were holding a rounders day. I presented the winning team caaptain with the winners shield and was shown the end of season work which has already been done on the square.
Back home, time to catch up on the news and deal with my emails which fortunately are usually fewer in number on Sundays. Finally a chance to sit down, have a meal and start planning for another day.
